Final hours in Amsterdam. The weather is cloudy for the first time in two weeks.
I guess I'm still in denial, a little bit.
I've been with Diederik nonstop since early June now. It's almost 3 months.
3 months of being together, with only my few working hours and bathroomvisits apart.
And now I might not see him for another 2 months.

But still I think we spend more time together than other couples (unless they live together), considering we've only been a real couple for 10 months.

As dutch as a breakfast will get. Baconfried bread, fries (but no mayo for me) and hagelslag on a slice of bread.

Today's song:
Röyksopp - Röyksopp forever

We went swimming a few days ago, in what I think was the ocean. I didn't expect it but it was really warm in the water. In Sweden very little of the warm current from the south reaches our shores (the Danish take most of it, as with many other things).
I can't wait to go there again. We probably spent an hour in the water, all 4 of us, before getting up again.
Only thing is that the beach is very far away and to that particular area it takes longer with public transportation than walking. About an hour in both cases. But after walking you feel soooo much better when you finally reach the water.

They have stripy shells here.

Ladybug on my pants, back in Malmö, where I soon will be going.

Today's song:

Diederik lives (like most people in the outskirts of Amsterdam) in a not very tall darkred brick townhouse building. They don't have ventilation originally, the buildings are more than a 100 years old. This causes the top floors in each house to have a temperature a lot higher than the bottom ones. Diederik's room is at the very top and so it gets very warm here. But after eating breakfast downstairs this morning I grabbed a cardigan when we were going out.
Huge mistake. Outside was sun, merciless sun, and air that stood completely still. Humidity made me feel like I was walking around in soup.

We were heading for a few presentations in physics, and when we met up with the other guys they informed us that later on we would have thunder, followed by snow. And as I typed that very sentence, just now, I heard the first sound of thunder.
I doubt the snow though. It's like 27 Celsius in the shadow.
Anyway I hope we'll manage, as soon as I'm done here, we're going to Job's place. With a barbeque and beer we were gonna celebrate that him and Stef both have reached their bachelor's degree in physics. But now, before I finished that sentence, a sudden and massive rain started pouring. Like in the Hollywood movies where I always think "It never really rains like that. They should adjust their rain machines." I see lightning now, it's not very far either.
I'll keep an eye out for snow, I guess.

Been watching alot of good movies lately.
Examples:
American Beauty
This is England
Ice Age 3

We also started watching District 9 but it was a poor version, so we shut it off. Downloading is legal in Holland, and I furiously abuse this fact. If someone wants to argue the moral of this, I'm welcoming a try.

Have some holiday pictures!

My blog is one year old now. Yay!

By the way, we played Magic The Gathering again yesterday. I win about 1 out of 3 rounds now. For being a newbeginner, I'm awesome!

Speaking of great mysteries; Here are some words that you might think was something from Star Trek but in fact was simple dutch:

Tentoonstelling = Exhibition
Stekelvarken = Porcupine
Graag = Please (as in being polite)
Mesthoop = Fertilizer from cow
Propedeuse = University diploma
Waarmee = With

(In my opinion, all words with double vowels are funny.)

Another thing that doesn't make sense, kapla. Awesome toy though.
Picture is from the first time I was in Amsterdam.

Gonna do some more on my new drawing project and then off to bed. This project will probably take a few days though, so have some patience. I'll put it up as soon as it's done!

Today's song:

This is Halloween  - From the movie Nightmare Before Christmas (or performed by anyone, all covers I've heard are good too)

M o m e n t

Wrote this a few days ago but never posted it.
Am busy at the moment playing with my graphic tablet :D

Previous nights we have watched alot of movies, among them The Pianist. I love that movie so much.
It's about the jewish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman in Warsaw during WWII. It has really everything: incredible cruelty, Adrien Brody, quiet moments of sorrow, piano music, destruction on a large scale and more Adrien Brody.

But tonight we're going out and I'm happy about that, we haven't been to the Irish Pub in ages. I think Nikki, the hungerian bartender is back from her vacation now. She's a really nice girl, we always talk to her. And several of the guys are now back from their vacation as well. Jay said he even got me something from Turkey. He said it was even more awesome than a bright green t-shirt with a fake Dolce and Gabbana logo, so I'm curious.

While playing all kinds of weird games I have been listening to the same man that me and Diederik listened to the first time we cooked together. It was one of the few cd's I brought with me on my first journey to meet Diederik, and it was filled half of chiptunes, and half of this brilliant man, Tom Lehrer. It was my "brother" Oswald who introduced his music to me and I'll be forever grateful.
Tom was born 1928 and in the 50s he made comic songs to entertain his friends. He sang about everything from political issues (and all of them still accurate and relevant) to poisoning pigeons. He was mainly a mathematician (teaching at among other schools, Harvard and MIT) but after popular demand he recorded his first cd. He's still alive but not active.

Now isn't he handsome?
Tom Lehrer, probably in 1953

His best songs in my opinion:
Pollution
National Brotherhood Week
New Math

Just a brief update.
 Been in Amsterdam for several days now, and it's so relaxing. We got the big house to ourselves, and we cook and barbeque and drink Trappiste beer.
And we played Magic the gathering twice, lost track of time on both occations. I won once and was later referred to as "The Mistress of Darkness". Flattering indeed. Reminds me of the book I mentioned once, Abarat. I need to get my hands on the third volume.

Today's been really slow. But we have ordered a graphic tablet, and I think it'll arrive maybe on tuesday. I'm so excited but I'm temporarily a bit poor due to the tablet and some difficulties with the tickets here. Fortunately, I haven't spent money on anything else here yet.
I've been fixing up a comic of mine, in total 3 pages. When I'm done with it, I'll probably post it in my creative blog.

Apart from all this, this day has been entirely about games but more importantly: Haribo's Peaches. Best jelly candy ever made (yes, yes, commercial, but I promote things I like).

And I watched Finding Nemo on youtube. Entire movie was there, it made me happy. We are currently downloading the first season of Little Britain. Can't wait!

Peachy colours all over this blog.

Today's songs:
(All very repetative summer songs)
Karamelldansen
Lykke Li - Little bit
Lily Allen - Not fair

Insanely tired and we're gonna go swim tomorrow.
Goodnight!

W a r m t h

After the usual horrible 16 hours on the train I am back in Amsterdam. Me and my dutch man arrived yesterday morning, and for the first time, I actually managed to sleep some. This was of course on Diederik's expense, he was my pillow.

It's really warm here, during the nights too. It is as if the temperature is the same both day and night.

And guess what.  I didn't wanna leave home without finding a place to live when I went to Amsterdam (cause from there I can hardly look at the apartments etc). And so, since I am here, I found a place.

I'M MOVING AWAY FROM HOME!

Yup, that's me right now.

Today's song:
